For hair, a slider can be manipulated to mix red, green, and blue color values to create the desired color. Hair and costumes may have their colors changed. Upon selecting the desired racial class, organic characters may have their face and hair changed based on premade types.

For example, a HUnewearl can never wear the outfit of a FOmar, and vice versa. Although certain colors may be modified, no class shares the same uniform. These classes are then further differentiated based on the gender and race of the character. Phantasy Star Online's character creator allows the personalization of template characters that are separated into three unique class types: Hunters, Rangers, and Forces.
